ヨナグニスベトカゲは与那国島に分布しています。森林の林床に生息しています。湿った落ち葉の下などに潜んでいます。以前はサキシマスベトケゲ ( Scincella boettgeri ) に含まれていましたが2022年にヨナグニスベトカゲ ( Scincella dunan ) として新たに記載されました。
Sakishima smooth skink ( Scincella boettgeri ) is distributed in the Miyako Islands and Yaeyama Islands. It inhabit in the floor of the forest. It lurks under the fallen leaves.
