オキナワミナミサワガニは、沖縄本島北部地域にのみ分布します。甲幅４cm程度になります。沖縄本島には5種のサワガニ類が分布するのですが、ヤンバルの森の渓流沿いでは、オキナワミナミサワガニがもっとも普通に見かけるサワガニです。水への依存度が高いようで、ほとんどの場合流れの中か、流れのすぐ側で見かけます。

Candidiopotamon okinawense is distributed only in the northern part of the main island of Okinawa. The width of the instep is about 4 cm. It lives in mountain streams.
