ユリカモメは全長40cmほどあります。大陸で繁殖し日本各地に冬鳥として渡来します。沖縄でも冬鳥ですが、あまり多くはありません。海岸や河口などに渡来します。英名にBlack-headedとあるとおり、夏羽では頭が黒くなります。冬羽では写真のように頭部は黒くありません。
