シロハラクイナは全長33cm、バンと同じぐらいの大きさです。県内には留鳥として生息しています。背中側は黒色で腹側が白いため”シロハラ”の名が付いたと思われます。水田、河川、湿地、マングローブ林などに生息しています。コワッ、コワッ、コワツ・・・・・と大きな声で鳴き続ける鳴き声も特徴的です。
The white-breasted waterhen is 33cm long, about the same size as a Common Moorhen. It is a resident bird in the prefecture and can be found in rice paddies, rivers, wetlands, mangrove forests, etc.
