サルハマシギは沖縄では旅鳥として主に渡りの時期に見られます。全長21.5cmほどの大きさです。水田、干潟、海岸などに渡来します。冬羽はハマシギと似ていますが、夏羽は首や胸が赤褐色をしています。
The Curlew Sandpiper is a migratory bird in Okinawa and can be seen mainly during migration. It is about 21.5cm long. It inhabits paddy fields, tidal flats, and coasts. Its winter plumage is similar to that of the Dunlin, but its summer plumage has a reddish-brown neck and chest.
