ヘラサギ　（ペリカン目トキ科）　Platalea leucorodia 英名 (English name)　Eurasian Spoonbill

ヘラサギは全長85cmほどの大型の鳥です。沖縄へは迷鳥として希に渡ってきます。干潟などに生息します。長いくちばしの先端がへらのような形となっています。クロツラヘラサギに似ていますが、クロツラヘラサギは眼の前方が黒くなっています。

Eurasian Spoonbill ( Platalea leucorodia ) is similar to the Black-faced Spoonbill ( Platalea minor ) . The front side of the eye of Black-faced Spoonbill is black. The total length of the Eurasian Spoonbill is about 85cm. It will come across as a vagrant bird to Okinawa. They inhabit the waterside such as coast and tidal flats.
