アマサギ　（ペリカン目サギ科）　Bubulcus ibis 英名 (English name)　Cattle Egret

アマサギは沖縄では冬鳥又は旅鳥として渡来します。全長51cm。水田、畑地、干潟などに飛来します。トラクターの後を追うようにして採餌する姿などが見られます。冬羽は全身真っ白ですが、夏羽は一部が茶色になります。アマサギの”アマ”は亜麻色（あまいろ）ではなく、飴色（あめいろ）に由来するようです。
