ヤエヤマハラブチガエルは、体長約４cm。石垣島・西表島に分布します。平地から山地に分布し、湿地や池の周辺で繁殖します。地面に内径、深さともに５～６cm程度の泥の穴を自分で作り、その中に産卵します。穴は天井もあり、その中で鳴くためなかなか見つかりません。孵化した幼生は、降雨時に穴から近くの池に流れていき、池の中で成長します。 コッコッコッコッコッ・・・・と穴の中で反響したような声で鳴きます。初夏から秋頃が繁殖期です。

Yaeyama harpist frog is endemic and endanger frog. They distributed in the Ishigaki and Iriomote Island. The total length is about 3cm. Breeding season is summer. This frog is digging a hole of about 5cm diameter and depth, and laying eggs in it.
